Four Grizzlies selected to 2004 All-Star team

Greg Stevens, Phil Warren, Joe Dooley, and Michael Golden were selected Tuesday, July 6th to represent the Gateway Grizzlies for the West Division in the 2004 Frontier League All-Star Game.

Stevens, a six foot one inch third baseman/catcher is hitting .270 with 11 doubles, nine home runs, and 30 RBI's. This is Stevens first season with the Grizzlies and is from Danville, VA.

Warren, from St. Louis, MO is a six foot one inch first baseman is hitting .339, which is ninth best in the league, tied for fourth with thirteen doubles, 10 home runs, and 28 RBI's. Warren is a veteran in the Frontier League playing in his second season with the Grizzlies.

Golden, a six-foot relief pitcher is 1-2 on the season with a 3.22 earned run average. In 22.1 innings pitched, Golden has recorded 10 saves, which is second best in the league and has struck out 37 hitters. Golden was with the Grizzlies organization for the first half of the 2003 season, then had his contract picked up by the Cincinnati Reds after last years all-star break. Golden returned to the Grizzlies at the beginning of the 2004 season.

Dooley, a six foot two inch starting pitcher for the Grizzlies is 7-0 on the season with a 1.46 earned run average. Dooley leads the league with his seven wins and his 1.46 ERA. In 67.2 innings pitch, Dooley has struck out 52 hitters while only walking 19. Dooley is in his second season with the Grizzlies and it from Chantilly, VA.

All four Grizzlies all-stars will be making their first appearance in the Frontier League All-Star Game.
