Bismarck Bobcats News Release
ALEXANDRIA, MN -- The Alexandria Blizzard rattled off four straight goals and the Bismarck Bobcats suffered their third straight loss, falling 4-1 Saturday at the Runestone Center.
With the Bobcats leading 1-0 halfway through the second, the Blizzard started their charge when Tucker Coborn redirected a Joe Rubbelke shot in traffic past Bobcat goalie Ryan Faragher to tie the game at 1-1 with 7:28 left in the middle frame.
Alex Altenbernd gave Alexandria their first lead of the night 8:10 into the third, smashing home a Tommy Williams rebound for a 2-1 score.
The Blizzard extended their lead with 8:06 to go as Jordan Nelson stole an outlet pass made by Faragher and slid it into the vacated net--making the score 3-1 Alexandria.
Altenbernd put the final nail in the coffin with an empty net goal that, despite appearing to have been scored after the final horn, was allowed by referee Don Jablonski, Jr., and gave the Blizzard the final 4-1 margin.
Tyler Richter scored his second goal in three games with 7:08 to go in the first, skying a Charlie Mosey rebound over Blizzard goalie Jake Williams to give the Bobcats their only lead of the night at 1-0.
Faragher made 33 saves on the night and stopped a total of 75 on the weekend but could not avoid suffering his third straight defeat.
Former Bobcat goalie Williams needed just 16 saves to record the victory.
The Bobcats return home to open the final weekend of the 2010-11 regular season with a 7:15 PM matchup with the Owatonna Express at the VFW Sports Center on Friday.
