Springfield Jr. Blues News Release

Former Springfield Jr. Blues player, Rudi Pino is back in town with the Falcons. Rudi was one of the last players released last summer at main camp. It's nice to see a young man after a time and see the maturity and growth that they have gone through. Rudi stayed with us when he was here and he talked constantly! We called him a "Physiced Woodpecker", all in good fun of course. Now he is one of the top players in the Port Huron organization, and we wish him the best of luck...just not this weekend!!!

There are, counting tonight's game, just six regular season games left. I don't know where this season has gone. The good guys have experienced more than their fair share of adversity, and they are, I believe, the best team NOT in the playoffs. We beat Michigan all five games we played them this year. So far we've beaten Motor City two games out of three. Oh well, we will return next year and this organization is certainly turned around and headed in the right direction. We all have high expectations for next season, and even though we are out of the playoff picture for now, we have the opportunity to make a statement for next year! So, with that said...Let's Go Blues! It's nearly game time!

Another fast first period! Port Huron scored first at the 3:10 mark, and they controlled the flow of the game until the Blues scored to tie the game at 11:38. Most of the period was up and down the ice, and back and forth chasing the puck. It looked like the Blues scored again late in the first, but it was waived off by the referee and was called a "no goal". From the press box it was a clear view and it sure looked like it crossed the goal line, but we don't make the call and it was still no goal. We'll just have to score in bunches during period two, which is on the way!

As Emeril would say on his cooking show,"Bam!" Just 24 seconds into the second period and Ethan Nauman took a pass from Gavin Tufte and put the puck past the Falcon goalie to take the lead, 2 - 1. That lasted until 5:37 when the Falcons scored a two on one break away. The Blues did not play the second period with much enthusiasm, or at least that's the way it looked. They should be out front and not looking back because they are so much more talented, but they played that second period like they expected Port Huron to lay down for them. Trust me, that isn't going to happen. The Falcons, so farare playing like they want to win worse than the Blues. If that remains the case, well, they probably will take a victory out of here tonight.

Period three is on the way. And all you can say is WOW! The Jr. Blues plain didn't play well, but found a way to win. It didn't look good, in fact it was downright ugly, but a win is a win, and the team needed it. Any time your team is down a goal with less than three minutes to play, and they pull it out they are really good or really lucky. The Jr. Blues were a little bit of both.

The same teams meet Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Sunday afternoon is the last home game of the season and it starts at 2:00 pm. It will be the last opportunity to see this extra special team in action this year, so come on out!

Saturday's game starts at 7:00 pm. See you at the "Nelly"!
