Four Chivas USA Players Called Up For U.S. Vs. El Salvador Friendly On February 24 In Tampa

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, February 4, 2010) - Chivas USA players Jonathan Bornstein, Sacha Kljestan and Zach Thornton have been named to the United States National Team's February training camp roster ahead of the team's friendly match against CONCACAF rival El Salvador in Tampa, Florida, on Feb. 24. New signing Osael Romero, who has eight goals in 37 appearances with the El Salvador National Team, has been called into his country's training camp for the match.

Chivas USA provide three players to the 23-player U.S. roster, led by Los Alamitos native Jonathan Bornstein, who has two goals in his 27 appearances with the United States. He is joined by Huntington Beach's Sacha Kljestan, who has three goals in 22 games. Rounding out the Chivas USA contingent is 2009 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Zach Thornton. All three players were in the United States' January camp, and Bornstein and Kljestan both played in the Jan. 23 match against Honduras at The Home Depot Center. The U.S. will convene in Carson, Calif. on Feb. 10 before traveling to Tampa for the game.

Star midfielder Osael Romero, who was recently acquired by Chivas USA and is awaiting a visa before joining the club, has been called up by El Salvador head coach José Luis Rugamas. El Salvador begins its training camp on Monday, Feb. 15 in San Salvador, and will fly to Tampa on Monday, Feb. 22. In 37 appearances for El Salvador, Romero has scored eight goals, including two in the 2-1 Gold Cup win over Costa Rica on July 3, 2009.
