Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON, TX (Thursday, February 4, 2010) -- Three Houston Dynamo players were called into camp with the United States national team in preparation for its February 24 match against El Salvador in Tampa, Fla., U.S. Soccer announced today. Midfielder Geoff Cameron, forward Brian Ching, and midfielder Brad Davis will join the U.S. squad for training camp at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., beginning on Feb. 10.
Following the U.S.-El Salvador match, all three players are expected to rejoin the Dynamo in Orlando for Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic games on February 25 and February 27.
Ching, 31, the Dynamo's all-time leading scorer since their first game, has 43 caps and 10 goals for the United States, most among players called in for this camp. The Hawaiian native was a member of the U.S. squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and captained the U.S. in the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Davis, 28, has made four previous appearances for the U.S. national team, including setting up the United States' only goal in its 3-1 loss to Honduras on Jan. 23. He was a member of the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup championship team. With the Dynamo, Davis tied for the Major League Soccer lead with 12 assists last year.
Cameron, 24, is still looking for his national team debut after participating in the first camp of the 2010 season but not seeing game action. He was named to the MLS Best XI in 2009 and was a finalist for MLS Defender of the Year, one year after he was a finalist for MLS Rookie of the Year in 2008.
The Dynamo will play their first preseason scrimmage this Saturday at 9 a.m. against Houston Baptist University at Robertson Stadium. Houston will host the 2010 Major League Soccer All-Star Game this summer at Reliant Stadium, and tickets are available in Dynamo season ticket packages, on sale now at HoustonDynamo.com or by calling (713) 276-7500.
The Houston Dynamo are a Major League Soccer franchise that has won two MLS Cup championships in its first four seasons and represented the United States in four consecutive regional championships.
