Fort Worth Cats News Release
Jordan Foster and Matt Spencer hit back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning as the Cats rallied for a 5-4 win Saturday night at LaGrave Field.
It was the Cats' third straight victory and second in a row to start the series with El Paso.
In front of 4,877 fans, the Cats fell behind early as El Paso scored a run in the first and then built a 4-0 lead in the second on a two-run double by Albenis Machado, who later scored in the inning on a throwing error.
The Cats, however, rallied quickly, scoring three times in the bottom of the second on Terence Green's second home run of the season.
Dan Valentin then came on in relief for the Cats, taking over for starter Dan Grybash who lasted only two innings. Valentin pitched four innings of no-hit baseball to keep the Cats in the game.
Andy Torres (5-4) had allowed three runs on nine hits through the first seven innings, but then gave up the consecutive homers from Foster and Spencer to give Fort Worth the lead.
Matt Harrington, who got the Cats out of an eighth-inning jam, earned the win, his second of the season. Steve Wilkerson notched his second save in as many nights -- his sixth of the season, after tossing a scoreless ninth.
The Cats go for a series sweep of El Paso on Sunday night. Ryan Weems will go for the Cats and David McWatters will pitch for the Diablos.
