Des Moines Buccaneers News Release
DES MOINES, IA - Forward TJ Walsh announced his commitment to Northeastern University this morning.
"I am excited to be a part of the historic program at Northeastern," Walsh said. "Thanks to my family, friends and teammates for all the support!"
Formerly a tender selection by the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, Walsh was acquired over the summer by the Buccaneers via trade and has had a breakout year so far in his third USHL season. Walsh is currently 2nd on the team in scoring and 8th overall in the USHL with 22 points.
"We are thrilled for TJ and his family," GM Tom Mannino said. "Since coming to Des Moines, TJ has worked very hard to be a consistent producer and deserves this commitment. His leadership on and off the ice is something that will carry over when he joins Coach Madigan and the Huskies."
Walsh is the second Buccaneer to commit to Northeastern University, joining Bucs' defenseman Michael Kesselring, and is the third Des Moines player to make his college commitment this week.
"We're very happy for TJ in his commitment to Northeastern," Head Coach Gene Reilly said. "We feel he will be a tremendous asset to their program due to his unique style of play."
Des Moines is at home this weekend again, both Friday and Saturday night.
Friday night the Bucs play Cedar Rapids for the first time this season and Saturday the Sioux Falls Stampede are in town.
Saturday is our annual "Ugly Sweater Jersey Game" featuring specialty holiday themed uniforms for auction after the game. It is also our annual Teddy Bear toss night. All promotions are courtesy of Broadlawns Medical Center.
