Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release

His name is synonymous with Tiger-Cats football.

He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1979, and is also on the Tiger-Cats Wall of Honour at Ivor Wynne Stadium.

And now, he's the newest member of the US College Hall of Fame.

Garney Henley, who played in Hamilton from 1960 to 1975, will be inducted during ceremonies August 13-14 in South Bend, Indiana.

Henley was a two-sport star at Huron College in Haiti, South Dakota. He led his team to 28 games without a loss, and set NAIA career records with 394 points scored and over 4,000 yards rushing.

Henley was a CFL all-star for 10 consecutive years (1963-1972) and was selected the CFL's Most Outstanding Player in 1972.

"Garney was an unbelievable athlete, who excelled at everything he did," said Tiger-Cats President David Sauve. "On behalf of the Tiger-Cat organization, we want to congratulate Garney on being inducted into the College Hall of Fame. I enjoyed reading his book, A Gentleman and a Tiger, and I suggest it to everyone."
