Former SU Football Star Rob Long to Drop Puck Saturday

Syracuse, NY (March 22, 2012)- The Syracuse Crunch announced today that former Syracuse University football player Rob Long will participate in a ceremonial puck drop at this Saturday's home game vs. Rochester at 7:30 p.m.

Originally from Downingtown, PA, Rob Long was the punter for the SU football team for four years (2007-10). Long earned three letters in his football career at Syracuse, and his 42.83 average ranked second among active kickers in the Football Bowl Division. His final season with the team was cut short due to the discovery of a brain tumor in early December 2010. Currently Long continues to show no signs of cancer after going through treatment. He plans to play for the NFL in the future.

Long will also be signing autographs during the first intermission. Crunch fans can head outside of Memorial Hall to get their autographs and meet Long.

The Crunch return home for games against St John's on March 23 and Rochester on March 24, both games begin at 7:30 p.m. Both season tickets and single game tickets can be purchased either in person at the Crunch Box Office located at the War Memorial on 800 South State Street in Syracuse, or by calling the office at (315) 473- 4444.
