SILVERTHORN UPDATE:

Goaltender Steve Silverthorn got his first taste of the NHL last night as he played the second half of a preseason game in net for the Dallas Stars, NHL affiliate of the Idaho Steelheads. The Stars lost 6-3 to the Colorado Avalanche at the American Airlines Center. Silverthorn allowed 0-for-4 in the second period and 3-for-9 in the third.

Idaho's head coach Derek Laxdal spoke with Silverthorn this morning. Silverthorn said he was very excited and didn't get nervous until he was in the dressing room waiting to go out and realized that this was his dream coming true...he got a little nervous then!

Silverthorn was named the ECHL's Playoff MVP following the Steelheads claim of the Kelly Cup Championship last season. The 26-year-old posted a 16-6 record and set new ECHL playoff records for wins with 16 and minutes played with 1,388 in a single postseason.

This marks Silverthorn's second training camp with the Dallas Stars, but his first NHL game action.
