Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

FORT MYERS, FL (June 25, 2009) - Former Fort Myers Miracle outfielder Rene Tosoni will join the likes of Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, Jason Kubel, Francisco Liriano, Matt Tolbert and Deolis Guerra. All have been selected to participate in the Futures Game during their Minor League careers.

The 11th annual XM All-Star Futures Game, with the best Minor League prospects from the United States against the best from the rest of the world, will take place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis on Sunday, July 12.

The Toronto, Ontario native, was a key component in the Miracle's West Division Championship in 2008. Despite missing nearly three months due to a left foot fracture, he hit .300 (42 games) and was selected to the Florida State League All-Star Game. He returned to the lineup in August and was 7-for-18 in the playoffs (.389) with two home runs and three RBIs.

Tosoni is currently with Double-A New Britain. He's batting .262 with 11 doubles, nine home runs and 42 RBIs through his first 65 games with the Rock Cats.

The 22-year old was a 36th-round pick of the Twins in the 2005 First-Year Player Draft.
