Modesto Nuts News Release
The 2004 baseball season is underway in Phoenix and Florida as every Major League team has begun spring training. Many former Modesto A's stars are in camp fighting for a big-league job. Shortstop Bobby Crosby (Modesto '01, '02) is expected to fill the void left by Miguel Tejada's departure to the Baltimore Orioles via free agency. Former A's pitcher Mike Wood is in camp battling for a spot in the Oakland bullpen. In Chicago, former Modesto pitcher Neal Cotts is fighting for a spot in the White Sox rotation. As the action in spring training heats up, we will keep you up to date on Modesto A's alumni.
National Anthem Tryouts
Have you ever wanted to sing the national anthem at John Thurman Field before an A's game? If so, you MUST attend the national anthem tryout on Saturday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary. All national anthem auditions must be sung a cappela. The auditions will be rated by a panel of judges, including Modesto A's staff and season-ticket holders. Madden from Planet 95.1 will serve as celebrity judge. Any MVP club member interested in sitting on the panel should contact the Modesto A's at 209-572-HITS (4487).
Game Worn Jerseys
The Modesto A's road jerseys (gray) worn from 1999 - 2003 are currently available in PeaNUT's Sports Trunk. An assortment of sizes and numbers are still available for just $100. Food Service Position
Doubleday Food & Beverage, a subsidiary of American Sports Entertainment, is currently seeking a Director of Food Service at John Thurman Field in Modesto, the home of the Modesto A's Professional Baseball Club. Schedule Change
The Modesto A's have announced a schedule change for the upcoming season. The previously schedule home games against the Visalia Oaks on Saturday, June 19 and Sunday, June 20 will be moved to Visalia. In addition, the previously scheduled road games against the Visalia Oaks on Wednesday, June 16 and Thursday, June 17 will be moved to Modesto. The Modesto A's apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Bryan Adams Concert at John Thurman Field
Bryan Adams (Summer of '69 and Everything I Do, I Do It For You) will perform live at John Thurman Field on May 8, 2004. Tickets are currently available at all ticketmaster locations and online at www.ticketmaster.com
