Springfield Jr. Blues News Release
It was announced today that former Junior Blues Defenseman and current Captain and USHL All Star Defenseman, Austin Coldwell has committed to the University of Alaska, Anchorage to play hockey during his college career.
Coldwell, who has worked diligently in college course work while playing hockey for the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League, stated this was the college opportunity he'd been looking for to further his academic and hockey career. "This", he said, "is the best fit for me as a player to pursue my education. I am really excited to play for such a highly ranked Division I program. I also would like to thank Coach Maher for teaching me the essentials to further my career. Without his leadership I wouldn't be taking this step today."
When asked for his thoughts, Coach Maher told us that Coldwell was one of the most talented defensemen he'd seen play, or had the chance to coach.
All fans of the Springfield Jr. Blues wish Austin best wishes and good luck next year with this next step in his hockey career!
