
Vandercook Records 2 Points in 100th Game with Wild

WENATCHEE, Wash. - D.J.Vandercook (Farmington Hills, Mich.) scored a goal and an assist in his 100thcareer game in a Wenatchee Wild jersey Thursday night at the Town ToyotaCenter. Vandercook's two points were not enough to propel the Wild to a win,however, as the visiting Kenai River Brown Bears earned their 17thwin of the season with a 3-2 victory.
Brett Lubanski scored the lone goal in the first period on ashot from between the faceoff circles with 2:33 remaining before theintermission to put the Brown Bears on top, 1-0. Doug Beck and Brad Duweassisted.
Carl-Johan Sjogren(Sodertalje, Sweden) knotted the score, 1-1, 80 seconds into the second period whenhe scored from the slot off of a pass from ShawnPauly (Bellingham, Wash.) from behind the cage. Vandercook earned thesecond assist on the play. The Brown Bears took the lead back, 2-1, a littleover three minutes later when Chris Rial notched a power-play goal on a shotfrom between the circles. Lubanski was credited with the lone assist for hissecond point of the contest.
Matt Thompson scored the Brown Bears' second power-playmarker of the contest with just 4:03 remaining in regulation to put give hisclub a 3-1 lead. Sean Muller and Bobby Murphy assisted. Trailing by two goals,Wenatchee utilized an extra attacker early. The move paid off when Vandercookscored from the bottom of the near circle with more than two minutes left inthe third period on assists by Pauly and HunterBrown (Huntsville, Ala.). However, the Wild could not generate theequalizing goal down the stretch.
Vandercook paced the Wild with a goal and an assist whilePauly recorded two assists. Brown's assist was his first in a Wild uniform.Lubanski scored a goal and an assist for Kenai River.
Mathias Dahlstrom made 41 saves on 43 shots to earn his 10thwin of the season. Dahlstrom made 21 saves in the third period alone. Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, Minn.)stopped 17 of the 20 shots he faced but suffered his first loss in his last sixstarts. The Brown Bears scored two power-play goals on five chances while theWild went 0-for-3.
The second game of the 3-game series between the Wild (21-13-2)and Brown Bears will begin at 7:05 p.m. on Friday.
