Frisco, TX - The FC Dallas Foundation has donated $33,500 to Dallas-based The Family Place. The donation came from funds that former FC Dallas defender Tanner Tessmann raised in response to Winter Storm Uri which devastated North Texas in February. Tessmann, whom FC Dallas transferred to Serie A's Venezia FC in July, organized a GoFundMe to assist those impacted by the storm.

"I'm really happy we could help," said Tessmann. "The support we got for the fundraiser was unreal. Really glad and proud of the community for helping these people. I just wish I could be there to see the difference and improvements."

The Family Place is a nonprofit organization that empowers victims of family violence by providing safe housing, counseling and skills that create independence while building community engagement and advocating for social change to stop family violence. Winter Storm Uri left 123 of The Family Place's clients displaced after pipes in one of their safe housing locations burst causing significant structural damage. The funds raised by Tessmann will be used to winterize the pipes and fire suppression system at the campus to avoid future damage to the shelter.

"We are beyond grateful to have Tanner Tessmann select us as the beneficiary of his fundraiser. Every dollar counts as we work to end the cycle of family violence and we couldn't do this without the support from passionate people like Tanner," said Family Place Development Manager, Margot Aliffi. "There are so many items that must be completely replaced or restocked due to the winter storm and every dollar helps The Family Place get Sally's House, our Safe Campus, back to its former glory. We are extremely thankful for this donation and the support of Tanner to help us get back on our feet."
