Des Moines Buccaneers News Release

Former Des Moines Buccaneer goalie Keith Kinkaid picked up his first career NHL shutout on Sunday, February 14th, for the New Jersey Devils.

Kinkaid made 28 stops, including two against former Buccaneer Trevor Lewis, to give his squad a home victory over the Los Angeles Kings, and his team needed every last save as his team picked up the win by a 1-0 score. A power play goal by David Schlemko 5:19 into the first period was all the offense that the Devils would need with Kinkaid on top of his game. The game marked the first time the Farmingville, NY native ever started a game against the Kings.

Kinkaid split the 2007-08 season between Des Moines and the New York Bobcats of the AJHL. In 15 games with the Buccaneers Kinkaid compiled a 4-9-2 record with a 3.41 goals against average and a .893 save percentage. After a season with the St. Louis Bandits in the NAHL, Kinkaid played two years of NCAA hockey for Union College before going pro with the New Jersey Devils organization. Between the 2011-12 and the 2014-15 seasons Kinkaid played in 143 regular season games for the Albany Devils, the AHL affiliate for New Jersey. On March 5th, 2013 he made his NHL debut for New Jersey at the age of 23 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Kinkaid has been having his best season in the NHL to date this year with a record of 4-5-1, a save percentage of .918 and a career low goals against average of 2.28. For his NHL career Kinkaid is 10-10-5 in 31 games played with a 2.47 GAA and .916 SV% in over 1,582 minutes played, all for the New Jersey Devils. With a record of 29-21-7, New Jersey currently holds the top Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
