
Former Buc Commits to DI School

Urbandale (IA) The Des Moines Buccaneers are proud to report that a member of the 2009-2010 team has committed to a Division I program. 2009-2010 Buccaneer D.J. Vandercook has announced his plans to attend Northern Michigan University beginning this Fall.
Vandercook played in 56 games scoring 16pts (7g, 9a) for the Buccaneers in 2009-2010, before spending last season with Wenatchee of the North American Hockey League. A Farmington Hills, MI native, Vandercook was also with Wenatchee during the 2008-2009 season.
Northern Michigan is a member of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association and coached by Walt Kyle who has 161 wins in eight seasons. The Wildcats went 15-19-5 overall in 2010-2011.
The Des Moines Buccaneers will be playing their 32nd consecutive season in the United States Hockey League beginning in the Fall of 2011. Since 1980, the Buccaneers have produced hundreds of NCAA Division I players and dozens of professional alumni.
