Savannah Sand Gnats News Release
SAVANNAH, Ga. - Corner infielder and former Braves minor leaguer Scott Schade joined the Sand Gnats roster prior to Saturday night's game against the Rome Braves. Schade hit 15 home runs for Rome in 2004 and spent last season in Myrtle Beach with the Braves Advanced-A affilate.
The former Auburn Tiger hit .216 with 2 home runs and 6 RBI in 15 games with Myrtle Beach this year before the Braves released him on May 22. He was officially signed by the Washington Nationals on Saturday, June 3 and is expected to be in the line up for tonight's game.
To make room for Schade, utility infielder Alex Nunez was placed on the Vermont Lake Monsters' roster but will remain in Savannah. Reliever Yader Peralta was also moved to Vermont's roster and will report back to extended Spring Training.
Also rejoining the Gnats Saturday is right-handed reliever Josh Perrault who returns to the bullpen after 10 days on the DL with a minor back strain. Perrault leads all current Gnats with three saves.
