Green Bay Blizzard News Release
Former Blizzard wide receiver, Lance Taylor, has been added to the coaching staff of the Appalachian State Mountaineers by Head Coach Jerry Moore. Taylor will be coaching the wide receivers at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision program. The Mountaineer program is a very talented team with a National Championship in 2007, the same year they upset Big Ten powerhouse Michigan at The Big House in Ann Arbor.
Taylor played football at the University of Alabama and was honored as team captain in 2003. Alabama's community and fan base is crazy about football and extremely dedicat- ed to supporting the program. Taylor explained that Green Bay has the same emotion and dedication for football that the Crimson Tide do in Alabama which played into his inter- est in playing for the Blizzard and will always be a place he remembers.
The Blizzard was the frst team he was able to play professionally for and has a lot of respect for the organization as a whole. When talking about Coach Bob Landsee Taylor said, "Landsee is a father fgure for all the players he coaches." Landsee cares about all the players but runs a tight ship with discipline to stay successful. After leaving the Bliz- zard, Taylor moved on to the Columbus Destroyers where a knee injury ended his play- ing career.
In 2007, new Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban asked Taylor to be a Graduate Assistant coach which he did for two seasons. He noted that Saban runs his team similar to the way Coach Landsee does with a mix of discipline and compassion for every member of the team. The Blizzard organization wishes Lance Taylor good luck with his new position.
