
Former Bear Serge Aubin Signs with Avalanche

HERSHEY â The HERSHEY Bears announced today that left wing Serge Aubin, who 42 goals for the Bears in 1999-2000, has signed a two-way contract with the Colorado Avalanche for the upcoming season. In keeping with company policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Aubin has spent the past two seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets, for whom he produced 21 goals and 25 assists for 46 points in 152 games played. He also has posted one goal and two assists in 16 career games with the Avalanche.
Aubin was originally Pittsburgh's ninth choice, 161st overall, in the 1994 Entry Draft. He played for the Hampton Roads Admirals (ECHL) in his rookie season of 1995-96 before joining the Cleveland Lumberjacks (IHL) in 1996-97. After Aubin played 55 games for the Syracuse Crunch in 1997-98, Pittsburgh loaned the Val d'Or, Quebec native to the Bears for the final five games of that season. In the summer of 1998, he signed an AHL contract with the Bears and eventually signed a contract with the Avalanche that December. He appeared in his first-ever NHL game on December 31, 1998 vs. the New York Rangers. He finished the 1998-99 campaign with 69 points, second only to linemate Christian Matte. In 1999-2000, Aubin amassed 42 goals and 80 points in just 58 games and was named to the AHL All-Star Game. Aubin set a franchise record with five hat tricks before he earned a March recall to the Avalanche. He played 15 regular season and 17 playoff contests with Colorado, which advanced to the Western Conference Finals. Aubin signed with Columbus in the summer of 2000.
