Lancaster Stormers News Release
Three former Lancaster Barnstormers have made their marks on a world stage this fall.
Emerson Frostad, Lancaster's starting catcher during the first month of the 2011 campaign, captured a Gold Medal at the recent Pan American Games in Mexico. Frostad played for Team Canada which shocked the hemisphere with a 2-1 victory over the United States squad.
The previous day, Lancaster's all-time saves leader, Scott Patterson, nailed down a 12-10 victory for the Americans over Cuba in the semifinals. The Cuban squad had not failed to take home the gold in the previous ten tournaments, spanning four decades. In eight appearances through the World Cup and Pan Am Games, Patterson recorded three saves and had a 1.29 ERA.
Meanwhile, the amazing 2011 continues for Jerome Williams. The former San Francisco Giants right-hander, who opened the season, 6-0, with the Barnstormers before going on to spend September as the number five starter for the Los Angeles Angels, has become the toast of Venezuela.
Scheduled to make six starts for Magallanes and be home for Thanksgiving, Williams is now 4-0 with a perfect 0.00 ERA in the first four of his outings in the Venezuelan Winter League. He has allowed 15 hits and 10 walks in 23 innings while striking out 20. Opponents have reached him for a solitary unearned run.
Williams is now 21-2 overall during 2011. He was 4-0 with a 2.95 ERA for the Angels during the final month of the Major League season.
The Lancaster Barnstormers are entering their eighth season as a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Home games are played at Clipper Magazine Stadium in downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Please call 717.509.HITS (4487) or visit LancasterBarnstormers.com for more information.
