Forge FC Drafts Pair of Defenders in 2021 CPL-U Sports Draft
January 29, 2021 - Canadian Premier League (CPL) - Forge FC News Release
Forge FC Hamilton selected two defenders in the 2021 CPL-U SPORTS draft Friday, including Garven-Michée Metusala eighth overall and Jose da Cunha ninth overall. The selections were announced during a live Canadian Premier League online presentation.
Forge FC had the last pick in the first round (eighth overall) and the first pick in the second round (ninth overall) of the two-round draft that saw 16 players selected overall by CPL clubs. Draftees will be invited to each team's preseason training, with the hopes of securing a 2021 U SPORTS Developmental Contract for the upcoming season that allows a student-athlete with one to five years of U SPORTS eligibility remaining to sign with a CPL Club, while preserving their eligibility before returning to U SPORTS competition.
