Force Prepare for 2008 Season by Signing 13 Free Agents

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA - The Georgia Force today signed DB Donnie Amadi, QB D. Alvin Bryant, DB Stephen Cason, WR Chad Cone, QB Ben Dougherty, OL Aqua Etefia, OL Nick Jones, WR Andy McCullough, OL Tucker Peterson, DB Brandon Register, DB Daryl Shaw, DL Elbert Shumake II and WR Kyle Smith.

Amadi, 5-10, 180 pounds, joins the Force after spending the 2007 season with the Green Bay Blizzard of the af2. He ranked third on the team in tackles with 64.5 and tallied four passes defensed and five forced fumbles in 13 games for the Blizzard. His five forced fumbles ranked tied for fifth in the af2. Amadi is a product of the University of Kansas where he was a key contributor to the Jayhawks defense for four seasons.

Bryant, 6-2, 215 pounds, started 16 games for the South Georgia Wildcats of the af2, where he completed 372 of 587 passes for 4,680 yards with a league-high 102 touchdowns. He has spent the last three seasons in the af2, spending time with the Wildcats (2007), the Manchester Wolves ('06) and Albany Conquest ('05). Bryant is a product of Duke, where he competed in football and basketball. He was a member of the undefeated Duke basketball team in 1999.

Cason, 5-11, 210 pounds, comes to the Force after playing in 15 games for the Green Bay Blizzard in 2007. Cason collared a team-high 113 tackles, six interceptions, 17 passes defensed and one tackle for loss for the Blizzard and his 113 tackles ranked fourth overall in the af2. Prior to joining Green Bay, he attended training camp with the now defunct Austin Wranglers. Cason is a graduate of The College of William & Mary, where he played in 40 career games and posted 65 tackles and four interceptions as a senior.

Cone, 6-3, 235 pounds, is a graduate of Savannah State University, where he played for three seasons. Cone recorded 282 rushing attempts for 1,388 yards with eight touchdowns on the ground and added 36 grabs for 516 yards with two touchdowns as a receiver in 27 career games. He is a native of Waycross (GA) and attended Ware County High School, where he was named first team All-Region in basketball and competed in the State Championships in track.

Dougherty, 6-4, 215 pounds, will enter his first season in the AFL in 2008 after leading the Tallahassee Titans of the AIFA in 2007. In 2006, he spent time in the Jacksonville Jaguars training camp before being waived prior to the start of the season. Dougherty prepped at Florida A&M and completed 477 of 764 passes (62.4 comp. pct.) for 5,231 yards with 32 touchdowns in three seasons as a Rattler. His 62.4 career completion percentage ranks first all-time in FAMU history and his 5,231 career passing yards ranks fourth. He added 1,016 rushing yards with 14 touchdowns on the ground during his career.

Etefia, 6-2, 320 pounds, will enter his rookie season in the AFL after spending the 2007 season with the Blizzard. He is a natural offensive lineman who played his college football at Grambling University.

Jones, 6-2, 300 pounds, is a product of the University of Georgia, where he started 32 consecutive games at center for the Bulldogs. The native of Bowdon (GA) was named second team All-SEC by the Associated Press and conference coaches following his senior campaign at Georgia. Jones started all 13 games in 2005 as the team finished 10-3 and secured the SEC Championship.

McCullough, 6-4, 226 pounds, will enter his seventh season in the AFL in 2008 and his second with the Force. McCullough has tallied 441 receptions for 4,770 yards with 85 touchdowns in 85 career AFL games. In 2007, he posted 60 grabs for 434 yards with three touchdowns in 11 games with the Chicago Rush. McCullough was a member of the Force in 2004 before being traded to the Indiana Firebirds after two games.

Peterson, 6-2, 290 pounds, joins the Force after attending training camp with the Washington Redskins in 2007. He is a natural offensive guard who started four seasons at the University of New Hampshire (2003-06). He started all 13 games his senior season and garnered a third team All-Atlantic 10 selection for his efforts.

Register, 5-11, 190 pounds, was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Washington Redskins following his senior season at the University of Alabama Birmingham. Register attended Redskins training camp in 2007 and will enter his first season in the AFL with the Force in 2008. He is a native of Donalsonville, GA and attended Seminole County High School.

Shaw, 5-9, 185 pounds, attended Wake Forest University from 2000-03. He played in 36 career games and posted 79 tackles, four interceptions, two tackles for loss, three passes defensed, three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble for the Demon Deacons.

Shumake II, 6-2, 322 pounds, enters his first season in the AFL after spending time with the Cleveland Browns in training camp. Shumake is a product of Pikeville College, where the posted 47 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, four sacks and one forced fumble in his final season.

Smith, 6-0, 172 pounds, played at Youngstown State and was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2006. In 2007, Smith competed for a roster spot with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in training camp, but was waived before the start of the season. During his stint at Youngstown State, he set a school record by catching a pass in 30 consecutive games, which also ranks fourth in Gateway Conference history. Smith hauled in 101 catches for 1,536 yards with 10 touchdowns in four seasons at Youngstown State.
