Fargo Force News Release
In the first of a two-game series between the Lincoln Stars (4-1-1-0) the Fargo Force (2-1-0-1), the Force suffered their first loss of the season.
Two Force players, Charlie Lurie (24) and Bret Link (10), scored their first goals of the regular season and Czech Republic native Hugo Haas had 35/39 saves in just under 59 mins in the net for Fargo.
The Stars struck first with a goal from Christian Kocsis at 7:13 in the opening period, but it wasn't long before the Force tied it back up. University of Nebraska-Omaha commit, Charlie Lurie, responded with a center-ice wrist shot off a pass from Jakob Stender. The Force failed to capitalize on a power play to close out the physical first period sending both teams to the locker room knotted up at one a piece.
After the break, the Stars buried a goal early in the second period after the Lincoln netminder fended off a Force offensive attack just moments before. Lincoln made it a 3-1 game at 7:42 in the second after a hooking penalty left the Force shorthanded. Just over a minute later Cole Knuble got his 4th assist on Bret Link's first goal of the season. Less than ten minutes to play in the second period a Stars wrist shot put the Force down by two once again heading into the final twenty minutes.
A physical third period which saw no goals included 10 combined penalty minutes, with 2 minutes of four-on-four hockey starting at the 10:44 mark. With 1:26 to play a high-sticking penalty by Lincoln, the Force pulled their netminder in a last-ditch effort to put the puck in the net with a 6-4-man advantage, but they were unable to pull off the comeback. The Force look to rally in tomorrow night's game and come away with 2/4 points on the weekend.
Saturday, October 16th it's Pucks & Paws Night, bring your dog to the game and come cheer on the Fargo Force! Tickets are available via www.ticketmaster.com.
