Capitols Get Offensive and Route U17s in Series Finale

The Capitols scored 5:40 into the game and never really let up. Downing the Team USA U17s 6-0 and outshooting them 42-15, the Capitols complete the series sweep and extend their win streak to five.

Madison pounced on the U17s in the first period netting four goals from forwards Nathan Lewis, Nick DeSantis, Reid Pabich and Kyle Kukkonen. Kukkonen's lamp lighter with 6:33 left in the opening frame was his first his first goal of the season. The Maple Grove, Minnesota native tipped a shot in the high slot that found the back of the U17 net.

Kukkonen wasn't done there as 47 seconds into the 2nd period the Capitols centerman buried another one for a short-handed breakaway tally. The Capitols scoring continued when forward Jake Dunlap found the twine for the third time this weekend with a snipe 13:06 into the middle frame.

Barrett Brooks and newly acquired Capitol Michael Quinn tallied their first points of the season this evening. Brooks, with the primary on Kukkonen's shorty and Quinn with a primary and a secondary helper in just his second game with the Capitols.

Rookie netminder Marino Ramirez got his second start of the season tonight and earned his first shutout of his United States Hockey League career. He turned away all 15 shots he faced.

Madison had another strong evening on special teams going 4-4 on the penalty kill.

The Capitols return home next weekend for a two game series against the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
