Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce (22-16, 148.0, 3.9) hosts the Dakota Wizards (17-22, 123.5, 3.2) tonight at 7:05 pm at the Sioux Falls Arena.
Game #39 / Home Game #20 / CBA Game #157
Deja Vu With the win last night against the Dakota Wizards the Skyforce improved their overall record to 22-16. If you take a look at what the Force's record was after 38 games last season, it was also 22-16. Hopefully this year's team will finish the regular season similar to last year's squad as they were 9-1 in their final ten games of the regular season. They then rode that momentum through the playoffs as they captured the 2005 CBA Championship.
Looking Ahead With the way the Gary Steelheads have been playing lately, it is hard not to look ahead to the matchup with the Steelheads at the Sioux Falls Arena next Wednesday night. The Steelheads are riding a season-high eight-game winning streak and it will more than likely increase to nine games tonight as the Steelheads host the lowly Michigan Mayhem for the second straight night. The Steelheads do play at Rockford next Tuesday night; however, they have won three games this season at the MetroCentre and could possibly arrive in Sioux Falls with a 10-game winning streak.
2006 NBA All-Star Weekend The 2006 NBA All-Star Game is this weekend and former Skyforce head coach Phil "Flip" Saunders will be roaming the sidelines for the Eastern Conference squad after leading the Pistons to the best record in the Eastern Conference as they are currently an NBA-best 42-9 (.824). Saunders is in his 11th season as head coach in the NBA (first with Detroit) after coaching seven seasons in the CBA with Rapid City, La Crosse and Sioux Falls. Saunders led La Crosse to two CBA Championships in 1990 and 1992. He was with the Skyforce for just one season (1994-95) as he led them to a 34-22 record and their first ever playoff appearance before he was hired by the Minnesota Timberwolves following the season.
