Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
Sioux Falls, SD (February 16, 2006) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Dakota Wizards tonight 101-83 (6.5, 0.5) to improve to 22-16 on the season. The âForce used a balanced attack as all five starters scored in double figures and the âForce made key plays down the stretch to pull away for the win. Dakota dropped to 17-22 and looks to get revenge tonight as the same two teams will go at it again.
The âForce needs to catch Yakama in the standings if they want to ensure a playoff spot and the possibility of two home games in the first round and they could not afford a letdown against a struggling Wizards team. Sioux Falls quickly built an eight-point lead (14-6) but needed a late three-pointer from Bill Thomas to win the opening quarter 26-23 behind 10 points from Jermaine Walker. The âForce would build a double-digit lead in the second quarter and led by as many as 14 points on several occasions. The âForce led at halftime 53-43 and won the second quarter 27-20. Both teams traded baskets most of the third quarter and the âForce led 73-63 after three quarters as both teams scored 20 points a piece to share the quarter-point. The âForce could not put away the Wizards as Dakota cut the lead to six points (85-79) with under 5:00 to go in the game. That would be as close as Dakota would get though as the âForce outscored the Wizards 16-4 the rest of the way to win the game and the final quarter 28-20 behind eight points from Billy Thomas. Corey Williams had a solid game for the âForce as he missed a triple-double by one rebound.
The Skyforce's next game is on Friday, February 17th, at home against the Dakota Wizards. Tip-off is set for 7:05 pm at the Sioux Falls Arena.

SKYFORCE: Corey Williams 15 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds
