
Force drops final regular season meeting to Wave

MILWAUKEE, WIS. - The Cleveland Force traveled to the Badger State for the final time this season and was defeated by the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Central Division Milwaukee Wave by a final score of 6-2 at the U.S. Cellular Arena. The game was the second game in a home and home weekend series between Cleveland and Milwaukee.
With the loss, the Force falls to 6-12 overall, 3-4 versus MISL Central Division opponents, 1-3 in the season series and 3-7 on the road. With the win, the Wave improved to 15-4 overall, 4-3 versus Eastern Division opponents and 8-0 at the U.S. Cellular Arena.
Milwaukee opened the scoring (0-1) when Leighton O'Brien scored the goal off the cross from Greg Howes at 2:03 of the first quarter. Cleveland tied the game (1-1) when Vermilion resident Chris Dore scored the restart goal off the assist from Hector Marinaro at 5:30. The Wave regained the lead (1-2) when Michael King stole the ball and scored the unassisted goal at 8:01.
Milwaukee opened the second quarter scoring and added to its lead (1-3) when Angel Rivillo found the back of the net off the pass from Kevin Burk at 3:53.
The Wave opened the second half scoring and kept up the scoring attack (1-4) when O'Brien scored the goal off the pass from Howes at 8:22 of the third quarter. Milwaukee added to its lead (1-5) when Joe Reiniger found the back of the net off the assist from King at 9:32.
The Force ended an 4-0 run by the Wave and opened the fourth quarter scoring (2-5) when Justin Evans found the back of the net off the cross from Ato Leone at 7:06. Milwaukee scored against the sixth attacker (2-6) when King scored empty net goal off the pass from Pat White.
Cleveland will play host to the MISL Central Division St. Louis Steamers for the first time this season on Friday, January 30 at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University. The game can be heard live on WHK 1220 AM in Cleveland as well as 1440 AM WHKW in Warren or worldwide on the Internet at www.thesportsking.com starting at 7:35 p.m.
