David Ties Rookie Record in Overtime Win

DALLAS - Shaun David scored in overtime as the Sidekicks defeated the Baltimore Blast 7-6 at Reunion Arena Saturday. The goal was his 13th of the season, tying the franchise rookie record set in 1994 by Curtis Partain.

The Sidekicks never trailed even though Baltimore tied the game four times. The final Blast goal, a restart by Carlos Farias at 7:40 of the third quarter, eventually forced the game to overtime. The score completed the hat trick for Farias, who scored all three times on restart goals. He also had one assist. The Blast set a Sidekicks' opponent record by tallying five restart goals in the match.

Earlier in the third quarter, Baltimore (16-6) pulled even at 5-5 when P.J. Wakefield scored at 2:01. Martin Dugas answered for the Sidekicks 11 seconds later on an assist from Mark Rowland.

Dallas (12-9) held a 5-4 edge at the half following second stanza goals from David Doyle and Ricardinho. It was Ricardinho's second score of the game. He also assisted the Doyle tally. Baltimore sandwiched the Sidekicks' scores with restart goals from Farias and Giuliano Celenza, respectively.

The Sidekicks raced to a 3-1 lead in the first quarter. Martin Nash assisted David as the Sidekicks scored 41 seconds into the contest. Farias tied the game at 3:26, before Ricardinho and Sinisa Alebic gave Dallas a two-goal cushion. David Bascome pulled the Blast within 3-2 after the first quarter with his goal at 12:32.

The Sidekicks now hold a 1.5-game lead on the San Diego Sockers (10-10) in the MISL Western Division. Dallas hosts the Philadelphia Kixx (11-7 Sunday at Reunion Arena at 6:05 p.m. Coverage on KSKY 660 AM begins at 5:50 p.m. Philadelphia fell 7-6 in overtime at home to the Monterrey Fury Saturday.
