
Flying Tigers Drop Miracle, 4-0, in Rain-Shortened Game

LAKELAND, Fla. (August 2, 2014) - The Lakeland Flying Tigers defeated the Fort Myers Miracle, 4-0, in a rain-shortened game at Joker Marchant Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Flying Tigers scored three runs in the first inning off Miracle starter Brett Lee. Harold Castro led off with a single into left field. Curt Powell then walked and Connor Harrell doubled in a run with a line drive into right center field, 1-0. Austin Green added a RBI on a sacrifice fly to right and Jeff McVaney followed with a run-scoring single through the left side of the infield, 3-0.
Lakeland added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jared Reaves led off with a single to left field. After Chad Wright lined out to second, Tyler Hanover doubled down the line in left to drive in Reaves, 4-0.
In the middle of the fifth inning, lightning and rain halted play. The storm prevented baseball from resuming at Joker Marchant Stadium.
Lee (8-3) took the loss in four innings with four runs allowed on eight hits. Flying Tigers starter Tanner Bailey went five for Lakeland. Bailey (2-3) allowed just one hit and struck out four.
The Miracle (65-45, 24-17) are set for a 1 p.m. game on Sunday against the Flying Tigers (54-53, 13-28). Fans can listen to the action at www.miraclebaseball.com with the 'Voice of the Miracle' Brice Zimmerman. The Head Quarters pregame show will begin at 12:40 p.m.
