CLEARWATER, Fla. -- J.P. Crawford had three hits, knocked in a run and scored one in the Threshers' 6-3 loss to the St. Lucie Mets on Saturday at Bright House Field.

Clearwater (18-24) took a 3-2 lead into the seventh inning, but St. Lucie (21-18) was able to push across an unearned run to tie it. The Mets took the lead with three more runs in the eighth and never looked back.

Jordan Guth got the start for the Threshers and tied a season-high in strikeouts as well as innings pitched. Guth (2-3) struck out six over his six innings of work while allowing two runs - just one earned - on five hits. The right-hander received a no-decision.

The Threshers got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning after Crawford drove home Roman Quinn with a single to give Clearwater an early 1-0 advantage.

Crawford finished 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Quinn extended his on-base streak to 17 games after singling in the first. The Threshers' centerfielder went 2-for-4 with a run scored and has a base-hit in 10 of 11 games.

Matt Koch took the mound for St. Lucie and turned in a nice outing. Koch (7-4) received a no-decision after going 5.1 innings and surrendering three runs - two earned - on six hits while walking four and striking out two.

In the bottom of the sixth inning in a 2-2 game, Anthony Phillips singled home a run to give Clearwater a 3-2 lead and chase Koch from the game.

Dario Alvarez, who just joined the Mets on Friday, earned the win in relief. Alvarez (1-0) tossed 1.2 innings and allowed only one hit to the Threshers.

Jeb Stefan was charged with the loss for Clearwater. Stefan (6-11) worked as a reliever and gave up the tying and go-ahead runs in the seventh and eighth inning.

Mets' catcher Albert Cordero gave St. Lucie some insurance after he belted a two-run homer to make the score 6-3 in the eighth.

Beck Wheeler earned his eighth save of the season, working the final two innings of the game and allowing just one base-runner.

Game three of the four game series is Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Colin Kleven will get the start for Clearwater while Luis Cessa toes the rubber for St. Lucie. Coverage begins at 12:45 p.m. on threshersbaseball.com.
