Lakeland, FL - Lakeland Flying Tigers catcher Austin Green was named Florida State League (FSL) Player of the Week today. The FSL selection was for the period of July 28 - August 3.
Green played in six games and collected 9 hits in 22 plate appearances for a .409 batting average. His hits included two homeruns and two doubles. He had six RBI and scored four times. His OBP was .417 and his slugging average was .773. Green is coming off a solid month of July in which he hit .301 with 6 homeruns and 15 RBI in 23 games. He was an FSL mid-season All-Star selection.
This is Green's 2nd professional season. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 13th round of the June 2013 draft from the University of San Diego and resides in San Diego, CA.
