SAN ANTONIO - In another thriller against Amarillo, the Flying Chanclas lost 6-5 in 11 innings. The Chanlas offense goes 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position and stranded 14 runners during the losing effort.
It was an eventful first inning for the Flying Chanclas against the Pointy Boots. Amarillo scored once in the top of the inning and San Antonio bounced back with two runs of their own.
Fred Schlichtholz was the starting pitcher for San Antonio replacing Reiss Knehr who was a late scratch. It was Schlichtholz's second career start. Alek Thomas welcomed him to the game with a lead-off double. Dominic Fletcher followed that with an RBI single. Schlichtholz rebounded with a double play and a ground out to end the inning.
The Flying Chanclas were facing Tommy Henry, the 12th ranked Diamondbacks prospect. Azocar singled to start the inning but was caught trying to steal second base. After a wild pitch, Chandler Seagle drew a walk and loaded the bases. The Chanclas were left stranded after a groundout from Azocar.
For the first time since the first inning, Amarillo regained the lead in the 10th inning. With Luis Basabe automatically on second base, he advanced to third base on a ground out. After a hit by pitch, Basabe scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly from Stone Garrett. Amarillo took a 4-3 lead.
