"ARMED FORCES FAMILY NIGHT" ON SATURDAY

Flyers giving away replica hats on "Souvenir Saturday" to first 500 fans

This Saturday, the Orange County Flyers are hosting the second-annual "Armed Forces Family Night" on June 26 at The Station at Cal State Fullerton to help raise money for Operation Gratitude while serving as a chance for the community to thank all past and current members of the military. All members of the military and their families will be admitted free to the ballpark, with gates now scheduled to open at 4pm.

Before the Flyers take the field for the 5:05pm first game of a doubleheader against the Chico Outlaws, the team will host a special pre-game ceremony to recognize members of the military featuring a ceremonial first pitch that will be delivered by five veterans representing all five branches of the military as well as the last five American wars. The pre-game ceremonies will also feature a color guard from all five branches of the armed forces. In between games of the doubleheader, fans will be treated to a softball game between Army-Air Force vs. Navy-Marines-Coast Guard.

Orange County's players will don camouflage jerseys for the night, which fans will have a chance to bid on throughout the night in a silent auction. All the proceeds from the silent auction will go to Operation Gratitude, a volunteer organization that assembles and ships care packages to troops overseas. The Van Nuys, Calif., based Operation Gratitude has sent more than a half-million care packages to American Service Members since it was formed. Flyers fans will also be asked to help in writing 5,000 thank you cards to our troops that Operation Gratitude will then include in their packages.

Saturday's game will also be a "Souvenir Saturday" featuring a Flyers recplica hat giveaway courtesy of Outdoor Cap. The first 500 fans will receive one of the special hats, so fans are encouraged to get to the ballpark early.

On Friday night, June 25, the Flyers are hosting their second "Family Film Friday" of the year with a post-game movie shown on the outfield grass. This week, the Flyers community is invited out to the ballpark to watch "The Natural" on the big screen at The Station. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6:05pm. The Flyers and Outlaws will play a doubleheader on Saturday, June 26 beginning at 5:05pm. The second game of the twin bill will begin shortly after the conclusion of the first game. Tickets for both games are available by calling the Flyers office at 714-526-8326 or through the Flyers website.
