
Flyboys Take Over Second Place in West with Win Over WhistlePigs

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Greeneville Flyboys are now tied for second place in the Western division standings with the Kingsport Axmen after a 12-7 win on Friday night over the Princeton WhistlePigs.
Greeneville (21-22) holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Axmen (21-22). The Johnson City Doughboys (32-9) clinched the West over a week ago.
The Flyboys and the WhistlePigs (17-25) traded runs early with a 3-3 score through four innings. The Flyboys broke through for their first lead of the game in the fifth with an RBI single from Nick Barone. Barone went 4-for-5 in the game with four RBIs and three runs.
Greeneville added two more in the sixth and one more in the seventh to make it 7-3 with RBI hits from Tyler Cerny, Jack Mosh, and Tristan Ellis. Tyler Cerny extended his hit streak to 11 games and his on-base streak to 27 games, which is every game that he has played in so far this season.
Princeton made things interesting in the eighth. The WhistlePigs sent nine to the plate and scored four times on six hits to tie the game 7-7. Ellis Garcia had the game tying hit.
Greeneville responded with a big eighth inning of its own. Mosh had the go-ahead RBI knock after Aden Hill made it to third on a hit by pitch, stolen base and a flyout. Barone followed a few batters later with a bases clearing double. Austin Bode added one more with a RBI hit to make it 12-7 Flyboys.
Matthew Delph (1-0) picked up the win after surrendering the lead. Noah Glenn (0-1) took the loss for Princeton.
Greeneville will play its final home game tomorrow at 7 p.m. against the WhistlePigs. A link to watch the game can be found on the Flyboys website.
