Florida Flame Announce 2004 NBDL Draft Selections for Inaugural Season

FORT MYERS, Fla., November 5 – The Florida Flame have announced their selections for the 2004 National Basketball Development League Draft, which took place Friday evening via conference call with the league office. With the 5th pick overall, the Florida Flame selected Kirk Haston, a forward from Indiana University who played with the Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets during the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons. Haston was also a member of the Philadelphia 76ers training camp roster this past October.

Head Coach Dennis Johnson and Assistant Coach Terry Thimlar selected a total of ten players from this evening's draft. The 2004 NBDL Draft selections for the Florida Flame are as follows:

The ten players selected tonight will join the Flame's two allocation players (Terrence Woods and Darius Rice), three players invited from open player tryouts (Jimmie Baxter, David Apple, and Antoine Stevens), and two returning players from the Charleston Lowgators (Carl English and Karim Shabazz) in team training camp which begins Sunday.

The Florida Flame open their inaugural season at home against the Roanoke Dazzle on Sunday, November 21st at 6:00 p.m. Season tickets are still available by calling the Flame's office at (239) 561-8130.
