
Ricky Minard First Pick in 2004 NBDL Draft

ATLANTA, November 5â The Columbus Riverdragons selected Ricky Minard, a 6-foot-4, 198-pound guard from Morehead State, with the number one overall selection in the 2004 NBDL Draft.
Minard, a rookie, was in training camp with the Sacramento Kings after being selected in the second round (#48 pick overall) of the 2004 NBA Draft.
A three-time All-Ohio Valley Conference selection at Morehead State, Minard finished his collegiate career as the Eagles' all-time leading scorer (fourth in OVC history) with 2,381 points. In a four-year collegiate career (2000-04) he played in 114 games, averaging 20.9 points and 6.4 rebounds.
"I'm really excited and ready to get started with the season in Columbus and the NBDL," Minard said. "I'm glad to be getting back on a good road to the NBA."
The NBDL's first round selections also included PG Cory Alexander (Roanoke Dazzle), C Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje (Fayetteville Patriots), SF Joe Shipp (Huntsville Flight), PF Kirk Haston (Florida) and SG Kirk Penney (Asheville)
