Florida Firecats News Release

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats received 391 points to remain third in the Week Seven Coaches Poll, the arenafootball2 (af2) league office announced today. The Firecats (5-0) finished in the third spot for a fourth consecutive week after a 39-27 home win against the Peoria Pirates last Saturday. For the first time in three weeks, however, Florida did not receive a first place vote.

By securing 442 out of a possible 448 points, the defending ArenaCup champion Tulsa Talons maintained the top spot in the poll for the seventh consecutive week. The Talons (6-0) continued their perfect start to the 2008 season by defeating the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings 57-43 Saturday night in Tulsa. The Spokane Shock (5-0) maintained their grip on the number two spot for a sixth straight week after earning a 43-41 come-from-behind win in Lubbock last weekend. Florida, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (5-1) and Boise (4-1) rounded out the top five.

Each week during the season, af2 coaches vote for the Top 16 teams in the league by ranking them one through 16. The complete Top 16 is listed below. The number in parentheses indicates the number of first place votes the team received.

The Firecats return to Germain Arena this Saturday, May 10th to face the Manchester Wolves. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EDT. Call (239) 390-CATS (2287) today to reserve your seats! Visit the team online at www.FloridaFirecats.com.
