Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots (16-4, 51-32) battled back to erase an early deficit and take down the Road Warriors (2-16, 19-62) by a score of 4-2 on Sunday night at TD Bank Ballpark.

The Road Warriors got the scoring underway for the second consecutive night when Chris Rivera recorded an RBI single, scoring Alfredo Silverio for a 1-0 lead in the top of the third. The Road Warriors would add on next inning with a Gustavo Pierre solo home run (9) to make it 2-0.

However, just as they did a night ago, the Patriots responded. In the bottom of the fourth, Nate Coronado ripped an RBI single into left field to cut the deficit in half, before Matt Oberste lifted a sacrifice fly to record an RBI and tie the game 2-2.

Somerset then grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fifth, when Ramon Flores cracked an RBI double into deep center field, scoring Scott Kelly and giving the Patriots the advantage at 3-2. Flores finished the ballgame with three hits, an RBI, and a run scored.

"My approach at the plate was to try and get the barrel on the ball. He kept working me inside, so I knew I had to be quick. I was able to put some nice swings on the ball and drive in a run to help us out," Flores said.

Patriots tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh inning when Justin Pacchioli grounded an RBI single up the middle to score Mike Fransoso and make it a 4-2 game.

Chase Huchingson (5-1) picked up the win in relief, tossing 0.2 innings with a strikeout.

Michael Lee (2-6) allowed four runs over 6.2 innings with nine hits allowed and no walks or strikeouts to take the loss for the Road Warriors. Ryan Kelly pitched a scoreless ninth inning with two strikeouts to secure his 15th save of the season.

The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will be on the road until Thursday, August 2nd when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for an 11:05 am game against the New Britain Bees. For tickets, visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
