Flint loses 10-1 to the Komets

FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals had a spirited 40 minutes of play but the third period proved to be the difference as the Generals dropped a 10-1 decision to the Fort Wayne Komets in front of 1,840 at Perani Arena on Friday night.

Flint trailed by a 1-0 score after 20 minute of play when the Komets' Right Wing Dominic Osmon (17) scored at 13:52. The Generals tied it in the second period when defenseman Joe Pace (1) scored at 4:26 for the 1-1 deadlock. The Komets took the lead for good when center Mathieu Curadeau (21) scored the game winner at the 6:34 mark and a 2-1 scored after 40 minutes of play.

The Generals gave up 4 early goals in the third period and could not recover giving up a total of 8 goals while suffering the 10-1 defeat. Fort Wayne's veteran defenseman Guy Dupuis (2g, 3a) and right wing David Hukalo (2g, 2a) paced the Komets' offensive attack.

Flint (16-31-2-4, 38 pts.) is in 6th place in the International Hockey League, while Fort Wayne (26-15-2-8, 62 pts.) moves into 3rd place in the IHL.

The Generals hit the road on Saturday, February 21, 2009 against the Muskegon Lumberjacks at 7:00 p.m. (Radio: WFNT 1470 AM with Robert A. Roe at 6:40 p.m.)
