Game Preview

Second place in the IHL will be on the line tonight, as the Kalamazoo Wings host the Muskegon Lumberjacks. On the season, the K-Wings are 3-5-0-0 versus the Lumberjacks and 2-1-0-0 against Muskegon at Wings Stadium.

Concluding a three-game home stand, Kalamazoo enters the night just one point behind Muskegon for second. Kalamazoo leads Fort Wayne by a single-point for third and trails Port Huron by six points for first. Nine of the K-Wings next 11 games will occur against the Icehawks, ‘Jacks and Komets.

Winners of two straight overall, Muskegon is starting to find success on the road. The Lumberjacks are on a season-high five-game road unbeaten streak (4-0-0-1). Muskegon will be without the services of defenseman Steven Later, who will be serving a one-game suspension from the league.

Martin Gets the Call

The K-Wings will be without the services of goaltender Joel Martin. Martin has been called-up for the weekend to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.

Heating Up

Forwards Anthony Battaglia and Rick Cleaver have been red hot for the K-Wings. Battaglia is on a four-game point streak registering 3 goals and 2 assists during the stretch, while Cleaver has earned points (5 goals and four assists) in six of his last eight contests.

With a record of 17-5-1-0, the K-Wings own the best home record in the IHL. Kalamazoo is also on a five-game home unbeaten streak (4-0-1-0), as well as a four-game overall unbeaten streak (3-0-1-0).
