Week In Review - The Flint Generals earned their first victory of the season in a 3-0 victory against the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday, October 22nd at Perani Arena. J.P. Morin (1), Kris Waltze (2) and Bobby Reynolds scored for Flint. Goaltender Marco Emond turned aside all 23 shots he faced for the shutout. On Saturday, Flint dropped at 4-1 decision at Fort Wayne. Flint trailed 2-1 after two periods. Fort Wayne scored early in the third period and wrapped it up late with an empty net goal. Rookie right-winger Mike Kinnie (1) scored a power play goal for Flint and goaltender Marco Emond stopped 41 of 44 shots.

Sherwood/UHL Player of the Week Nominee - Right Wing Mike Kinnie is our nominee for the U.H.L. Player of the Week ending October 24, 2004. In two games, Kinnie had 1 goal and 1 assist for 2 points and 2 penalty minutes.

Goaltender of the Week Nominee - Marco Emond is our nominee for the U.H.L. Goaltender of the Week ending October 24, 2004. Emond backstopped the Generals shutout victory over Kalamazoo on Friday night.

Friday is the first of 9 regular season meetings against the expansion Mechanics and the first of four visits into Motor City. The Mechanics are coached by former NHL-er Gary Unger. Center Blair Manning (2g-3a-5 pts.) is the leading scorer. Left wing Jeff Goldie (3) leads the team in goals scored. Right wing Brad Cruikshank (21) is the penalty minutes leader. Motor City will host Rockford and Port Huron to wrap up the weekend.

Saturday, October 30, 2004 vs. Port Huron Beacons, 7:35 p.m.

Saturday is the first of 9 regular season meetings against the Beacons and the first of four games to be played at Perani Arena. Flint will travel to Port Huron for 5 games this season. Port Huron is coached by Rick Adduano. The leading scorers are center Aaron Brand (3g-4a-7 pts.), left wing David Beauregard (3g-2a-5 pts.), defenseman Mark Lindsay (2g-3a-5 pts.) and left wing Trevor Edwards (1g-4a-5 pts.). The penalty minutes leader is defenseman Chris Cloutier (21). Former NHL goaltender Daniel Berthiaume joined the Beacons early last week. The Beacons host Kalamazoo on Friday, October 29th and travel to Motor City on Sunday, October 31st. The Generals all-time record against the Beacons is 6-6-4.

Right Wing Bobby Reynolds (1g-4a-5 pts.) leads the team in scoring. Defenseman Gabriel Proulx, right wing Mike Kinnie and center Chad Grills have 3 points each. Flint leads the UHL with 312 penalty minutes averaging 78 PIMS per game. Grills is on a 3 game point scoring streak. Kinnie scored his first professional goal in Fort Wayne on Saturday. Right wing Rob Valicevic has appeared in 3 games since joining the Generals on October 16th. Flint will play 3 of the next 4 games on enemy ice with all four games against Central Division rivals.
