Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Davenport, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits won their fourth game in-a-row on Thursday night behind the arm of William Fleming, who tossed 7.0 shutout innings to help top the Kernels 6-1 at Modern Woodmen Park.
While Fleming would capture the spotlight, the Quad Cities' offense handed their starter a 4-0 cushion, using a sacrifice-fly from Darryl Collins, a run on Juan Carlos Negret's fielder's choice, and a two-run blast from River Town to jump in front early against Travis Adams.
After a scoreless second, Quad Cities tacked on another against Adams, plating a run on a balk.
Although that would be the final run Adams would allow in his 5.0-inning start, William Fleming thwarted any Kernels' rally over his career-high 7.0-inning gem, only allowing multiple base runners in the first inning, allowing one walk, and stranding five hits with seven strikeouts.
In the seventh, Jack Alexander capped off his River Bandits' debut with an RBI single for a 6-0 lead, before Harrison Beethe pitched a scoreless eighth.
Caden Monk allowed the only Kernels' run on a Kyle Fedko solo homer in the top of the ninth, but the left-hander then struck out the next three batters he faced to close out the game.
Fleming (1-3) earned his first win of the season on the mound for Quad Cities, while Adams (0-2) got pegged with his second loss at the High-A level.
Now in the midst of their longest win streak of the season, the Bandits will look to claim their fifth series win of the campaign on Friday, sending Rylan Kaufman (1-5, 5.70) to the mound to face David Festa (6-2, 2.75) for a 6:30pm first pitch at Modern Woodmen Park.
