Flames On Home Ice Three Times This Week

Moline, IL- The Quad City Flames played four games in five nights last week with their only defeat coming at the hands of an AHL powerhouse, the Chicago Wolves. The Flames played three overtime sessions and two shootouts beginning on Wednesday night versus the Grand Rapids Griffins. A third period comeback netted the Flames a shootout win over the Griffins. On Friday night, the Chicago Wolves rolled to a 6-2 win over the Flames. The team bounced back to earn another come-from-behind win with a 3-2 shootout win over Iowa. The team capped the week by earning a regulation point in a 4-3 overtime loss to Rockford.

The Flames play three games at the i wireless Center this week, as they continue a four-game home stand. The stretch will include the first-ever games with the Toronto Marlies and the Rochester Americans from the North Division. The Marlies will visit on Wednesday night. Quad City hosts a rematch with Chicago on Friday before the Americans visit on Sunday afternoon.

Player and Mascot Appearance at Max Muscle in Bettendorf

Saturday, January 19th from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Max Muscle (Duck Creek Plaza in Bettendorf)

Flames players and the team's mascot, Firestorm, will be at Max Muscle on Saturday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Max Muscle is located at Duck Creek Plaza in Bettendorf. Fans are invited to stop by and meet Flames players and collect autographs. A team autographed goalie stick will also be raffled off during the event.

Road Game Viewing Party at Bleacher Bums in Davenport and Parkside Grill and Lounge in Moline

The Flames invite fans to follow the team on the road via b2 Viewing Parties at Bleacher Bums in Davenport or Parkside Grill and Lounge in Moline. The team begins a five-game road trip next week in Rochester. Drink specials will be offered at both locations. Fans in attendance at Bleacher Bums can purchase $5 domestic pitchers or buckets of beer for $12. Bleacher Bums is located at 3811 N. Harrison Street in Davenport, across the street from Lujack's. Parkside Grill and Lounge is located at 2307 5th Avenue in Moline.

This is the first meeting between the two teams this season. The Marlies sit atop the North Division with a 25-9-0-4 record. The Flames will be visiting Toronto next Saturday for the second of two meetings between the teams this season.

Friday, January 18th vs. the Chicago Wolves 7:05 p.m. at the i wireless Center in Moline, IL

The Flames look to earn their first victory at home and second of the season against the Chicago Wolves Friday night. Last Friday the Wolves rolled past the Flames 6-2 at the i wireless Center.

Sunday, January 20th vs. the Rochester Americans 5:05 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, IA

The Americans visit the Quad Cities for the first ever meeting between the two teams. The Americans are currently in last place in the North Division with 28 points.

The Flames game broadcasts can be heard on FM radio as 93.9 FM WYEC will carry all 80 games, all playoff appearances and the Flames weekly radio show. This week's games will be preceded by the Hayman's Ace Hardware Pre-Game Show beginning 25 minutes prior to face-off. After the game, stay tuned for the Kinetic Fitness Post-Game Show. The Flames Forum returns to the air tonight at 6:00 p.m.

Wednesday, January 9th - Grand Rapids Griffins 5 at Quad City 4 Shootout

The Flames improved to 3-0-0-0 vs. Grand Rapids with a 5-4 shootout win over the Griffins on Wednesday night at the i wireless Center. Krys Kolanos extended his scoring streak to five games by scoring his 14th goal of the year. Tomi Maki added a solo marker as did Brandon Prust, who scored with just 1:44 left in regulation to force the extra session. A high-scoring first period featured five goals between the two squads. Grand Rapids took a 1-0 lead when Mark Hartigan scored at 1:24. Hartigan scored by deflecting a feed from the left wing wall past Flames netminder Matt Keetley. The Flames scored twice unanswered to go in front at 2-1. Tomi Maki scored his fourth goal of the year on a point-blank chance in front of the Grand Rapids net at 6:41 of the first period. Krys Kolanos scored his first goal of the night just 41 seconds later to put the Flames in front for the first time. Kolanos carried the puck from the end wall up the left wing wall and into the circle before whistling a shot past Griffins netminder Jimmy Howard. Howard exited the game following Kolanos goal. The defending AHL Goaltender of the Month allowed two goals on just five Flames shots. After eleven minutes of scoreless hockey, Mark Cullen scored his eighth goal of the year for Grand Rapids to tie the score at two. Cullen tipped home Kyle Quincey point shot on a Griffins power-play to knot the score with 1:17 left in the first. The Flames quickly answered as Kolanos scored his second goal just 17 seconds after Cullen's tally. Kolanos' 14th goal tied him with linemate Grant Stevenson for the team's lead in goal scoring. Derek Meech scored the only goal of the middle period as he powered home a point shot during a 5-on-3 Griffins power play. The tally was the first AHL goal of the season for Meech, who is down from the NHL's Detroit Red Wings on a conditioning stint. The teams traded third period goals. Griffins defenseman Tom Galvin scored his first goal of the season shorthanded with just 6:29 left in the contest. Brandon Prust responded by scoring with just 1:44 left in the game to re-tie the score at four. After a scoreless overtime, the teams traded first round shootout goals. Grant Stevenson and Krys Kolanos scored in the third and fourth rounds while Matt Keetley stopped the remaining three shooters to secure the victory for Quad City.

Friday, January 11th - Chicago Wolves 6 at Quad City 2

The Flames fell to 1-4-0-0 on the season vs. Chicago following a 6-2 loss to the Wolves on Friday night at the i wireless Center. Krys Kolanos netted one of the Flames goals to establish a new franchise record for consecutive games with a goal. He also tied a franchise record for longest scoring streak with a point in his sixth straight game. The Wolves jumped out in front 2-0 with a pair of goals in a 31 second span in the seventh minute of the first period. Joel Kwiatkowski scored following a set of tic-tac-toe passes from Brett Sterling and Jason Krog. Alexandre Giroux tipped home a Boris Valabik point shot for a shorthanded tally to open up the two-goal edge. At 15:17 of the first, Krys Kolanos cut the Chicago lead in half when he scored his 15th goal of the season on a wraparound chance. At 3:48 of the second, Giroux finished a transition sequence with his 10th goal of the season giving the Wolves a two-goal cushion. The Wolves added another goal when Nathan Oystrick scored following the rebound from a Colton Fretter shot. Chicago skated back to the dressing room after two periods with a 4-1 edge. Grant Stevenson pulled the Flames to within two at 2:16 of the third period when he netted his 15th goal of the year, but the Flames could pull no closer. Chicago added markers from Colton Fretter and Jason Krog to set the final at 6-2.

Saturday, January 12th- Iowa Stars 2 at Quad City 3 Shootout

The Flames secured a 3-2 shootout victory on Saturday vs. Iowa thanks to third period tallies from Brandon Prust and Grant Stevenson. With the win, the Flames improve to 18-16-1-5 at the halfway point of the 2007-08 season. Krys Kolanos set a franchise record for longest scoring streak in the contest as he assisted on Stevenson's goal to stretch his scoring streak to seven games. Iowa's Marty Sertich netted the only goal of the opening frame when he took a feed from Vojtech Polak and beat Brent Krahn for his 13th tally of the season. The Stars opened up a two-goal lead when Konstantin Pushkarev scored the only goal of the middle period. The Flames battled back in the third on goals by Brandon Prust and Grant Stevenson. Prust scored on a feed from behind the Iowa net, where Derek Couture was set up. The goal at 5:03 of the third cut the Stars lead to one goal. Stevenson tied the game when he netted his 10th power-play goal, and 16th overall, of the season at 14:25 of the third frame. After a scoreless overtime, Tomi Maki and Carsen Germyn scored in the shootout while Brent Krahn stopped all four Iowa shooters he faced to earn the victory.

Sunday, January 13th- Rockford IceHogs 4 at Quad City 3 Overtime

Brandon Prust earned the Flames a regulation point when he scored his second goal of the night with just 49 seconds left in regulation during a 4-3 overtime loss to Rockford on Sunday. Tim Ramholt also scored in the game as Quad City moved to 18-16-2-5 on the season. Prust's first goal of the night gave Quad City a 1-0 lead after one period. The power-play tally at 7:22 of the opening frame was assisted by Grant Stevenson and Tim Ramholt. The Hogs moved in front with a pair of goals in the second period. Prestin Ryan scored on a shot from the slot to tie the game before Martin St. Pierre scored a power-play goal to give the Hogs the lead at 18:02 of the middle period. A dramatic third period began with a Tim Ramholt goal at 12:08 of the period. Ramholt beat Rockford netminder Corey Crawford with a shot from the high slot for his second goal of the year. Just 46 seconds after Ramholt's goal, Niklas Hjalmarsson scored to put the Hogs back in front. With time growing shot, the Flames pulled their netminder in the final minute of the closing period. Prust skated onto the ice as the sixth attacker and scored on a goalmouth scramble to tie the game with 49 seconds left in regulation. Derek Nesbitt concluded the drama when he scored for Rockford just 40 seconds into the extra session. Nesbitt tipped a shot from Hjalmarsson past Flames netminder Brent Krahn to earn the victory for the Hogs.
