Bulldogs Host Rivermen Tomorrow Night Before Road Trip To Texas This Weekend

The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will play three games this week, including a home tilt tomorrow night before heading to Texas for two contests this weekend. Hamilton will battle the Peoria Rivermen (AHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues) on "Bill Sturrup Night" at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15th at Copps Coliseum. The Bulldogs will then play two weekend road tilts on Friday, January 18th versus the San Antonio Rampage (AHL affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes) at 8:00 p.m. at the AT&T Center and on Sunday, January 20th at 5:05 p.m. when they take on the Houston Aeros (AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild) at the Toyota Center.

Last week, Hamilton posted a 2-1-0-0 record in three games at Copps Coliseum. The Bulldogs edged the Binghamton Senators 3-2 in overtime on Wednesday, January 9th. The Club then split two divisional weekend contests, defeating the Syracuse Crunch 5-2 on Friday, January 11th before dropping a 7-3 decision to the Rochester Americans on Saturday, January 12th.

BILL STURRUP NIGHT:

The Bulldogs will honour former public address announcer and long-time CHML radio broadcaster, Bill Sturrup on Tuesday, January 15th, 2008 when they take on the Peoria Rivermen at Copps Coliseum. Sturrup passed away last year on January 16th, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bill's wife Kathy, daughter Deb, son Mike, daughter-in-law Josie, and grandson Wolfgang will drop the puck during a pre-game ceremony featuring a commemorative collage on the scoreboard. The family will also be presented with a special gift prior to the game. Throughout the course of the night, a recording of Sturrup's trademark "And here are your Hamilton Buuuulllldogs" will be used to introduce the team to the ice.

Fans can email a tribute or memories of former public address announcer and long-time CHML radio broadcaster, Bill Sturrup, to tickets@hamiltonbulldogs.com to receive two free tickets to the game. The promotion will run until 12:00 p.m. tomorrow.

- Montreal LW Sergei Kostitsyn earned two points last week, including an assist in a 4-3 win against Chicago (Jan. 8) and scored the Canadiens only goal in a 4-1 loss in New York to the Rangers (Jan. 12)

- Montreal LW Andrei Kostitsyn picked up an assist in back to back games in a 5-2 win at Boston (Jan. 10) and a 4-1 loss at the New York Rangers (Jan. 12). With the two points, Kostitsyn now has seven in his last six games

- Montreal C Maxim Lapierre earned two points for the Dog's parent club this past week, setting up the game-winning goal in a 4-3 victory over Chicago (Jan. 8), and adding a goal in a 5-2 win at Boston (Jan. 10)

- Montreal C Tomas Plekanec also registered two points last week, tallying a goal and an assist in a 5-2 victory at Boston (Jan. 10)

- New York Rangers LW Marcel Hossa notched two points this past week, an assist in a 5-3 loss versus Tampa Bay (Jan. 8) and an assist in a 4-1 victory over Montreal (Jan. 12)

- Dallas C Mike Ribeiro picked up five points in the last seven days, including two assists in a win verses Minnesota (Jan. 7), a goal and an assist in a loss at St. Louis (Jan. 10), and an assist in an overtime loss at Los Angeles (Jan. 11)

- Edmonton G Mathieu Garon started all three games last week for Edmonton and was victorious in all three, shutting out the New York Islanders 4-0 (Jan. 7), defeating Phoenix 5-2 (Jan. 10) and winning 2-1 versus Calgary (Jan. 13)

- Pittsburgh G Ty Conklin registered 2 wins last week, a 3-1 win at Florida (Jan. 8), and a 4-1 victory at Tampa Bay (Jan. 10)
