Three former members of the Corvallis Knights, one current Knight and one future Knight were selected on Saturday on the final day of the Major League Baseball draft.

UC Irvine pitcher Elliot Surrey (2013), winner of the Knights Top Pitcher Award in 2013, went to Seattle in the 26th round as the 777th overall pick. Surrey was first-team all-West Coast League that summer, when he was 5-1 with a league-best 1.27 ERA.

Catcher Ryan Matranga (2015) of San Francisco was chosen by the hometown Giants in the 36th round as the 1,085th pick. He was honorable-mention all-WCL last summer.

Infielder Caleb Whalen (2012) of Portland went to Milwaukee in the 38th round.

Current Knights' outfielder/third baseman/catcher Adley Rutschman of Sherwood High School, an Oregon State signee, went to Seattle in the 40th round as the 1,197th pick.

Infielder Scott Ogrin, a 2016 Knight-to-be from Valencia (Calif.) High School who has signed with Cal Poly, went to Minnesota in the 27th round as the 813th selection.

Four other Knights' alums were selected in the first two days of the draft.

OSU catcher Logan Ice (2014) was taken by Cleveland in the second round on Thursday as the 72nd overall pick. Oregon pitcher Stephen Nogosek (2013) went to Boston in the sixth round (178); UC Riverside pitcher Austin Sodders (2014) went to Detroit in the seventh round (205), and Cal Poly pitcher Justin Calomeni went to Colorado in the ninth round (260).

Also, the Colorado Rockies recalled lefty Tyler Anderson (2009) from triple-A Albuquerque. He played at Oregon and was the initial Corvallis Knight to be drafted in the first round, in 2011.
