MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. - The Edenton Steamers (3-0 second half, 21-8 overall) used a five-run seventh inning to boost themselves past the Morehead City Marlins (1-2 second half, 11-19 overall) Tuesday evening 8-2 at Big Rock Stadium.

Trailing 2-1 in the top of the seventh, the Edenton Steamers first two hitters were set down in order. However, the next three hitters reached via two walks and a hit-by-pitch and Wigberto Nevarez cleared the bases with a three-run double to right field, giving the Steamers a 4-2 lead. After another single, Wes Meadows knocked his own RBI-double, this one scoring two runs and increasing the Steamers' lead to four.

Then in the eighth inning, the Steamers tacked on two more runs on an RBI-single from Koby Kraemer and then an RBI-single from Adam Kirsch to close the scoring at 8-2.

The Marlins scored their first run of the game in the fourth inning on a single by Sal Annunziata, scoring Ryan Cranmer from second base. Then in the sixth, the Marlins took a 2-1 lead on an Eric Peterson single, also scoring Cranmer from second base.

Troy Scribner (1-0) earned the win in his first start of the summer for the Steamers, allowing two runs (one earned) in six innings of work. Dario Santangelo (0-2) took the loss, giving up two runs on two hits in 2 2/3 innings of relief. Matt Wainman notched a no-decision for the Marlins, tossing four innings and allowing just one run.
