Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release

Fayetteville, NC The Fayetteville SwampDogs were pleased to present Wendy Anderson with her new car on Saturday night, after her name was drawn as part of the Stewart Nissan Steal of a Lifetime promotion with the club.

Each night, SwampDogs fans can register to win a new car by simply submitting their name into a box at the main gate. If a SwampDogs' player steals home, a lucky fan's name is drawn to win a brand new vehicle.

On June 15th, Fayetteville's Joe Ciamacco (Ohio State) stole home in the third inning against the Wilmington Sharks, setting the wheels in motion for a fan to win the grand prize. Anderson's name was pulled, and she was invited on to the field to celebrate with Instigator of Fun Lew Handelsman and Fun-Go.

This past Saturday, June 30th, Anderson was invited back to "The Swamp" to see a model of the car she won during the Dogs' game against the Catawba Valley Stars. The car was driven on to the playing field and she once again rejoiced with SwampDogs fans.

The Fayetteville SwampDogs are a member of the Coastal Plain League, entering their 12th season in the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 16th season in 2012, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The CPL gives college players a chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had more than 930 alums drafted and 52 alums - including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander - make their major league debut thus far.
