Five Rangers Named To All-Star Team

Kitchener, ON: The Ontario Hockey League announced this morning that Justin Azevedo, Matt Halischuk, Nick Spaling, Yannick Weber and Steve Mason have been selected from the Rangers to participate in the 2008 OHL All-Star Classic as a part of the Western Conference squad.

Azevedo is currently second in league scoring with 84 points, 29 of those goals. He has set a new career high this season up from 69 points in the 2005-06 season.

Halischuk is averaging 1.47 points per game with the Rangers. He just returned from the U20 World Championship where he scored the game-winning goal in the gold medal game against Sweden.

Spaling is currently second in league power play goals, scoring 20 in 31 games played. He stands in the top three in league scoring for game winning goals. Spaling has 49 points this season including a career high 28 goals.

Weber was the top scoring defenseman at the U20 World Championship accumulating six points in six games. He is currently among the top scoring defenseman with 40 points, including 15 goals.

Mason is in the top five league leading goalies with 20 wins and 4 losses so far this season. He swept the individual awards at the U20 World Championship being named the tournament MVP and to the all-star team.

This year's All-Star Classic is being held on February 5th & 6th at the Steelback Centre in Sault Ste. Marie.
