Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers News Release

Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers are pleased to announce arenafootball2's five-millionth fan will be selected at random and honored at tomorrow night's game at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.

"This is quite a milestone for the af2," said Pioneers President Dave Berryman. "The five-millionth fan recognition will make an already special evening even better."

In addition to the five-millionth fan selection, the Pioneers have planned a memorable evening for Saturday's game. The team hopes to be able to present a check for $20,000 to the family of SGT Sherwood Baker, who was killed in Iraq in April. In order to present the check for the Sherwood Baker Memorial Fund, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's administrative staff conducted a "Camp Out to Sell Out" initiative in front of the team office this past week.

As part of tomorrow's promotion, the five millionth fan will receive a prize package including, but not limited to: two season tickets for the 2005 season, an authentic af2 jersey signifying the five-millionth fan and dream seats for the game. Officials from the arenafootball2 league office will also be in attendance for Saturday's game.

"We are thrilled to be able to celebrate our five-millionth fan during our fifth anniversary season," said af2 Executive Director Jay Marcus. "Our fans are some of the most loyal and dedicated sports fans in the country. We are thankful for their support and look forward to continuing to provide the affordable total entertainment experience they have come to love."

Fans may inquire about ticket availability for the June 5th game by calling the team at (570) 270-5811 or (570) 270-3848.
